It’s not rare to find “next big things” in motocross. But it is rare to find someone who has earned that status the way Cooper Webb has. Young talent often wins with starts, sprints, and risks, but Cooper analyzes his racing, outthinks the competition, and when it comes down to it, he just figures out how to win.

In 2016, Cooper dominated 250 Supercross again, winning five races and building a big points lead. But then came a wrist injury, which threatened his Championship. For the Supercross finale in Las Vegas, Cooper was faced with surviving a mud race, under pressure, and with a broken wrist. He held on with true grit, and won the title by a single point.

The broken wrist figured to ruin any hopes for Cooper in the motocross championship—but he strapped a wrist brace on and soldiered through the early rounds, scoring podium points. And, when he finally healed, he unleashed fury, winning five of six motos at midseason to take over a points lead that he would never relinquish. In a series that few thought he could even compete in, Cooper dug in, dug deep, and figured it out again. #YamahaWOC
