Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship
Statistical Report
La Crescent Wine & Spirit Spring Creek National
Spring Creek MX Park – Millville, Minnesota
Saturday, July 18
- Spring Creek has hosted a Lucas Oil Pro Motocross National since 1983. It boasts several of the most iconic obstacles in the sport, including the "Holy Schmit" jump, named for late local legend Donny Schmit, along with the notorious sand whoops and new “Mount Martin.”
- The city of Millville has a population of approximately 200 people. On Saturday, that population will grow by at least 50 times that number when thousands of die-hard motocross fans pour into the town.
- Spring Creek is in the backyard of brothers Alex Martin and Jeremy Martin, as their parents—John and Greta—own the facility.
- Only five international riders have won in the 32 years Spring Creek has hosted a Lucas Oil Pro Motocross National. Three of those riders are from South Africa.
- For the first time in series history, Minnesota-born riders will lead both the 450 Class and 250 Class championship standings heading into Spring Creek.
- Hometown hero Ryan Dungey has won a total of five times at Spring Creek – twice in the 250 Class and three times in the 450 Class, with each of those coming consecutively. However, Dungey has gone winless the past two years.
- Dungey is still the only rider in the 450 Class to earn every championship point for his brand in the manufacturer standings.
- Jeremy Martin won for the first time at the family-owned facility last year, en route to his first career title in the 250 Class.
- After 14 motos, Jeremy Martin is the only rider in the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship to finish inside the top 10 in every moto this season.
- Following seven rounds, the 250 Class points lead has switched hands between Martin and Marvin Musquin on four different occasions. Neither rider has carried the red number plate for more than two consecutive rounds.
- Despite having five overall wins between them, Red Bull KTM teammates Ryan Dungey and Marvin Musquin have yet to win on the same day in 2015. They swept victories during the winter FIM/AMA Supercross season on six different occasions.
- Although he hasn’t raced for seven motos, Eli Tomac still has the most laps led in the 450 Class this season. Tomac’s three-year winning streak at Spring Creek (250 Class in 2012-2013 and 450 Class in 2014) will come to an end this season.
- With Christian Craig’s first ever moto podium finish at RedBud, a total of 21 different riders (9 in 450 Class, 12 in 250 Class) have now earned a podium result in 2015.
- Veteran Andrew Short will make his 2015 debut on Saturday after missing the first seven rounds with an injury. Fellow veteran Josh Grant will also compete in his first race since the Chad Reed-owned TwoTwo Motorsports effort shut its doors, filling in for an injured Wil Hahn.
450 Class Stats
- The first race held at Spring Creek was on August 28, 1983. Bob Hannah won on a Honda.
- This will be the 25th time the gate will drop for a 450 Class race at Spring Creek.
- Only 11 riders have stood atop the 450 Class podium at Spring Creek in 24 years.
- Last year Eli Tomac added his name to the list of riders that have won in both the 450 and 250 Class at Spring Creek, joining Ricky Carmichael, Ryan Dungey, Jeff Emig, Ron Lechien and James Stewart.
- Ricky Carmichael boasted an undefeated record at Spring Creek, winning every race (8) and every moto (16) from 2000-2007.
- Yamaha hasn’t won an overall at Spring Creek since 1994 when John Dowd posted the only overall win for the brand.
- Suzuki has won seven of the last 10 races at Spring Creek.
- A total of four riders have posted their final career victories at Spring Creek. Eli Tomac became the first rider to earn his first career 450 Class win at the track last season.
- Justin Barcia enters Spring Creek on the heels of back-to-back victories, looking to break the Yamaha winless streak at the circuit.
- Ryan Dungey has the chance to become the second winningest rider at Spring Creek by taking a fourth victory in the 450 Class. He’s currently tied with Jeff Emig (1996-1998) with three wins.
