Pro License Eligibility
PROFESSIONAL MOTOCROSS LICENSE ELIGIBILITY
Applicants for an AMA Pro Racing Professional Motocross License who meet the qualifications for a professional motocross license as listed in the AMA Pro Racing Pro Motocross Championship Rulebook, may apply at amaproracing.com.
Applicants are eligible to apply for a professional motocross license by acquiring 60 AMA Pro-Am advancement points over an 18-month period. AMA Pro-Am sanctioned events are listed on the americanmotorcyclist.com website and in the calendar section of the AMA’s American Motorcyclist magazine.
Applicants are also eligible to apply for a professional motocross license by qualifying and competing in the 250 or 450 Pro Sport class at the AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship in the previous or current year.
AMA Pro Racing may issue a license to any rider who does not meet the above criteria if it determines, in its sole discretion, that a rider has documented adequate current competition experience consistent with that found at AMA Pro-Am sanctioned events.
Applicants who can demonstrate circumstances which prevent them from being able to acquire 60 AMA Pro-Am points, but who would otherwise meet the experience requirements for a professional motocross license, may seek consideration under the Discretionary Approval provision.
Applicants applying for an AMA Pro Racing Motocross License pursuant to the Discretionary Approval provision must use the form below and provide the following information.
- Submit a Race Resume indicating all “A”, Expert and/or Pro-Am level race results within the past 18 months. Results for “B” or “C” classes will not be considered. A minimum of five race results are required.
- Submit at least one Reference Letter (with contact information) from an AMA national or district race official, a recognized industry representative or a certified USMCA (United States Motorcycle Coaches Association) instructor.
- Additional information may be required as necessary to determine an applicant’s eligibility.
- Multiple submissions and updates may be made.
Please allow 2-4 weeks for review.
