Concussion Test

Management of Concussion ImPACT Testing Requirement for All Athletes

Every participant in the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship must complete a concussion baseline test prior to their first competition. Managed in conjunction with the Alpinestars Mobile Medical Unit (“AMMU”), MX Sports Pro Racing and Paul R. Reiman MD, Inc. have implemented an upgraded concussion management program for pro motocross licensed athletes. The program includes physician testing at the races, physician evaluation after a graded exercise program, and the mandatory use of computerized neurocognitive testing. Follow-up physician evaluation, including neurocognitive testing, is required before clearance to return to competition. AMMU, MX Sports Pro Racing, Paul R. Reiman MD, Inc. are committed to providing modern standard of care treatment for all injuries, including concussion.

The neurocognitive test chosen by the medical professionals of AMMU is the ImPACT® Applications Baseline Test developed by Mark Lovell, PhD and the concussion management team at the University of Pittsburgh. Extensive research and experience with this test has shown it to be the most predictable and validated neurocognitive test. The test is one part of the evaluation process. Although normal values for the test have been developed, the most accurate use is to have a baseline test of all athletes prior to competition. Baseline tests are a 30-minute proctored computer based exam. There are no pass/fail scores. It is used to compare with a post injury test. We are confident that this will provide another level of rider security and safety for our professional athletes.

Currently, there are two ways to take the test: 1) through an accredited testing center, and 2) online through To find an accredited testing center near you, go to Find A Provider and input your current zip code. In the alternative, email Dr. Reiman and he will be able to guide you to an accredited testing center near you.

Athletes taking online neurocognitive tests through The Medic Rig website are required to use the Remote Proctor Now System found at Information on the program and testing procedures can be found at Information about the Program.

Once you have taken the baseline test, upload your results/certificate of completion directly onto your Rider Profile account at to verify compliance.

Riders who have sustained confirmed concussions will be required to comply with the Return to Ride Protocol before returning to competition.
