SMX Next - Motocross
The hands-on development of the future of American motocross will continue for the 2025 season as MX Sports Pro Racing has announced details of the Scouting Moto Combine, presented by U.S. Air Force Special Warfare, for the sport’s top amateur prospects. The program will coincide with three rounds of this summer’s AMA Pro Motocross Championship.
Round 2 • Hangtown Motocross Classic • Friday, May 30
Round 6 • RedBud National • Friday, July 4
Round 9 • Ironman National • Friday, August 8
The Scouting Moto Combine, presented by U.S. Air Force Special Warfare, is the next phase of the 2025 SMX Next progam. SMX Next consists of a total of ten (10) events designed to foster and hone the skills of the sport’s next premiere athletes. The SMX Next - Supercross edition featured five events held in conjunction with Monster Energy Supercross. The SMX Next - Scouting Moto Combine edition will feature three events, and the SMX Next – All Stars edition will be held in conjunction with the two SMX Payoff rounds on September 6 at zMAX Dragway at Charlotte Motor Speedway, and September 13 at The Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis, Missouri.
Each gathering of the 2025 Scouting Moto Combine will take place on the eve of the Hangtown Motocross Classic (Friday, May 30), RedBud (Friday, July 4) and Ironman (Friday, August 9), where educational classroom-style sessions are intertwined with on-track practice and a pair of 25-minute-plus-two-lap motos. Each gathering will feature a collection of 24 the sport’s most elite amateur prospects, developed in collaboration with American motocross’ competing manufacturers–GASGAS, Honda, Husqvarna, Kawasaki, KTM, Suzuki, Triumph and Yamaha. Machine size is limited to 250cc 4-Stroke.
The all-day Combines will feature on-track and off-track coaching, with classroom-style race education designed to prepare the next generation of SMX athletes. The programs will include a full schedule of championship winning, on-track coaching by National and World Championship-winning coaches, instructional riding techniques, race craft and qualifying time management. Fitness and nutrition guidelines with experts in the race industry will be offered, as well as media training with industry-leading social media, television broadcasters, and podium personalities.
While the spotlight will rest squarely on the Combine each Friday, the invited racers will also get a taste of the excitement and fanfare of Saturday’s National with a commemorative parade lap that will serve as a kick-off to the action for the thousands of fans in attendance. Students and their families will also be treated to a Pro Paddock experience on National race day.
Participation in the Scouting Moto Combines is by invitation only.
