RE: Competition Bulletin 2021-7: Introduction of Post-Race Media Corral

In an effort to better accommodate the needs of the media and formalize the post-event process surrounding media and rider engagement, MX Sports Pro Racing is introducing a “Media Corral” with a designated media engagement window following every event. This will take effect beginning with the RedBud National on July 3.

The new Media Corral will be located within the pits, adjacent to the Media Center. The media engagement period will provide a 15-minute window for the top-10 finishers from each class to conduct interviews with the media in one, convenient location. The goal is to eliminate the sometimes-challenging dynamic of conducting interviews in the midst of the breakdown and reloading of each respective team’s pit area by introducing a quieter, less chaotic environment. By making the Media Corral available to all riders who finished in the top 10, members of the media will also have an opportunity to bring attention to an even larger group of competitors who don’t necessarily get the attention they deserve.

All members of the media interested in speaking with riders will be present at the Media Corral, with an opportunity for either one-on-one or group interviews, depending on the preference of each individual publication.

The Media Corral will begin approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the final moto. The top-10 finishers from the 250 Class will be invited to attend the Media Corral beginning at 5:30 p.m., followed by the top-10 finishers from the 450 Class at 5:45 p.m.

Media Corral Windows
250 Class      5:30 p.m. – 5:45 p.m.
450 Class      5:45 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

**At Spring Creek and Unadilla, the 450 Class will go first at 5:30, followed by the 250 Class at 5:45.**

NOTE: The Media Corral is not intended to replace the existing post-race Zoom press conference for the podium finishers at each event. The Zoom conferences hosted by Jason Weigandt will still take place at 8 p.m. local time following each event.
